I want to share with you my camping experience at the Skowhegan/Canaan KOA in Maine. We are Value kard holders and have visited many KOA’s and private campgrounds throughout the country, always staying at KOA when available. Well the Skowhegan/Canaan KOA went beyond what I ever expected or have experienced. Our hosts Don, Beth and Nick truly know how to manage a successful operation. The grounds and facilities were kept immaculate. The overall appearance and demeanor of the staff was beyond reproach.
Every weekend was themed and full of activities, from ice cream socials to wagon rides. The staff was always ready to answer any questions and went out of their way to make you feel at home. We stayed 15 days, so we got to experience everything. I am addicted to the morning newspaper and when I said this to Don, in passing, I had a paper on my RV step by 8am every morning (if it rained it was in a plastic bag). We travel with our dog Daytona who was as welcomed as we were. The dog walk area was more than sufficient and even had a trash can to place waste in. The staff was very “pet friendly”. This property should be considered for your highest award, as they deserve it. The operations are very talented and work to give each camper a level of quality service not commonly found in the world of camping. I mean I was getting exhausted sitting in my easy chair just watching this crew work! The staff requested that we stop in the office before leaving so they could say good bye. We received a heartfelt hug and handshake and were ordered to drive safely. Don even took the time to find to find and play “America”, by Paul Simon, as a departing song since we would be traveling the NJ Turnpike. Ever get a goodbye like that at a campground? Rent assured we will return to this KOA and will spread the word for others to do the same. Sincerely, Ray, Joy and Daytona of NJ ____________________________________________________
Dear Beth and Don;
Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how very much your kindness and generosity is appreciated. Not only do you make us feel very welcome each year we visit your magnificent campground, but you willingly went beyond the call of duty and accepted my 2 UPS parcels. Not everyone would be bothered. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude. Your
kindness will never be forgotten!
Sincerely, Tania Thompson & Kendall Mills Oxford, Nova Scotia Canada _________________________________________ |

Hello Beth, Don & Nick,
We had the pleasure August 2006 of staying at your facility (Our first trip ever to Maine). We had the most memorable vacation we could have ever hoped for, when we got back home we got caught up in things and I never did Thank You all for everything. We originally planned to come this year, unfortunately a devastating year of events will keep that from happening this year. Last fall our daughter Amanda (14) was severely hurt, she had a swing dance routine fall in which she had impacted her neck and head ( she landed on the floor, not on the mat), nothing was broken, but there was severe nerve damage as well as damage to the to the tendons and ligaments in her neck, which caused therapy and decompression to her neck and spine she has finally regained the feeling in her limbs, and had apparently injured her leg while she was numb…… she had surgery on the leg last week and hopefully will be able to start normal activities by the fall. Last year when we were there, Amanda & Jesse had a great time and so did Al & myself (it was the best Vacation we have ever had), and they also had made a friend in Ray, his wife and Gracie. If they are there again this year can you please let them know what happened, and ask if they could contract us via E-mail, I know Amanda would be thrilled to hear from them. I have send along a picture of the kids from our trip last year. Hopefully we will make it up there next year if all goes well and Amanda keeps progressing the way she is. I know this is late, but thank you again for the best summer ever last year. Take Care, Mary & Al Spangler ____________________________________________________ Beth, Don and staff, Thank you so much for your help on a few things during our stay here. Very people oriented! Have a wonderful summer. Happy Campers, Joe/Mary Gonzalez

Dear Beth,
I want to let you know that our Labor Day Weekend in Skowhegan was great, although a bit wet. Barbara and I relaxed a great deal. We are sorry we missed kayaking. Maybe the next time. Your service was great. Even getting the best looking painted picnic table from 5 rows away all the way to our site! No having to park in reverse was another plus. Hope to see you on another
occasion. Pleased campers, Bonnie & Barbara ______________________________________________________ An act of kindness is long remembered. Words can't express how much your thoughtfulness is appreciated. Thank you from Ben, Caro, Mic, & Cyn, Canada ______________________________________________________

Dear Sir:
Someone should make RV travel and their vehicle locations a reality. Only KOA could . I’m writing this note to you just for just one central reason. I want you to know about the outstanding KOA service and facilities we have enjoyed this past summer at your Skowhegan/Canaan, Maine Kampground. This was our third long summer visit to this site, and now the new owners, Don Cloutier and Beth McCann, have demonstrated why we frequent KOA consistently form coast to coast. Retired Airstream travelers that enjoy the New England summer months, we try to stay in Maine for several months at a time. Of all your Kampgrounds we have visited, Skowhegan/Canaan stands out as one of your premium franchises. We’ve witnessed firsthand how Don and Beth exemplify KOA’s true professional character, the result of two things…mental attitude and the way they spend their time serving RV owners. We plan to return to Kamp next year. Congratulations to you and your fine firm for providing such a high caliber of service and facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Your business is a worthy enterprise. Respectfully, L.B. Warnock TX

Thanks and we hope to see you again! Sincerely, Bonnie Dugay (Amero Family) CT P.S. Please see enclosed picture of my Dad. He’s ready to work for you next year!!! We stayed at a KOA in Skowhegan, Maine and the experience was superb. The man there named Don was more than helpful. I have a Handicapped husband and he gave me extra help and I will always be grateful to him. We drove an extra 3 hours on our way back just to stay there a second time. You should give him an award for his dedication to helping others. I will highly recommend this KOA to anyone I know that will travel to that part of the country. Our hats off and thumbs up to him. Sincerely, Mary

My husband and I recently went to Newfoundland by motor home and had the luck to stay at the lovely KOA park in Canaan, Maine USA. The park is lovely, all grassed, and spotlessly clean. The owners are friendly and helpful. But imagine our delight when we woke to Christmas in July. What fun! It is never to late to be a child at heart. Thank you for a great stay. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Jim and Betty Bellevillie, Ontario. Canada

Dear friends, About 3 weeks ago we arrived at your campground, late at night. Our motor home went dead in front of the office, and you called AAA for us. Remember? I got it running myself by replacing a fuse. Well, we had a wonderful vacation, and you were part of it because your patience and helpfulness. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and hope someday to drop in again! Thanks again! With heartfelt greetings, Bill and Helen Hamilton, Ontario Canada.

Hello My name is Michael, my family and I just returned home from another terrific KOA visit and I wanted to let you know. We stayed at the Skowhegan/ Canaan while attending a horse show in the area. The hosts, Beth and Don were fantastic, fun, helpful, friendly and very accommodating to our to needs. The little extras really make an impact and I would recommend this KOA to others without hesitation. The grounds were spotless and well groomed. We were in a full hook up site with cable, which helped on a few rainy days. I know KOA owners cannot control the weather but all that they could control they did so above and beyond the call of duty. I hope you pass this comment onto the staff of the Skowhegan KOA on behalf of our family from Woburn MA Thanks KOA keep up the good work!

Hi, this is Abbie. I was up with my boyfriend, Jeffery, the last week in May, and we stayed in kabin 2. We both really wanted to thank you for your hospitality and friendliness while we were there. You treated us as if we were longtime friends and your own personal guests and it really made the trip a whole lot more enjoyable to us and a truly unforgettable and wonderful experience. Thank you so much for your suggestions on stuff to do since most of our plans fell through. Sometimes campground owners are friendly, but not hospitable, as both of us commented to each other throughout the week, and even when we talked about the trip to friends and family. The cabin was clean and cozy and we loved it! Your campground really is beautiful, and one of the nicer KOA’s I’ve ever stayed in. Keep up the good work on it! Thank you so much! If we are ever in Maine we will surely camp there again, and if we know of anyone going to Maine we will highly recommend the campground. Thank you very much Abbie
